Fao impairment in system homeostasis
A four-year Ph.D. contract is offered by the Mitochondria in Pathology group, led by Professor Laura Formentini at the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid (UAM), Centro de Biología Molecular Severo Ochoa (CBMSO), attached to a recently awarded grant funded by the Agencia Estatal de Investigación (contrato FPI). The student will participate in a project aimed at investigating the impact of restrained mitochondrial activity in the development of metabolic disorders and aging.

Investigador predoctoral (convocatoria FPI de la UAM)/Predoctoral Researcher (UAM FPI call)
Structure, function and regulation of GlyT2 variants associated to hyperekplexia.
Hyperekplexia (OMIM 149400) is a rare sensorimotor syndrome potentially lethal in newborns. It is caused by defects in the inhibitory glycinergic neurotransmission due to mutations in some human genes such as the neuronal glycine transporter GlyT2 (SLC6A5), responsible for supplying glycine to the presynaptic terminal. In this project, the pathogenic mechanisms of GlyT2 mutations found in hyperekplexia patients will be analyzed in terms of the structure of the transporter, its function, intracellular trafficking, interactome, regulation, as well as its consequences in embryonic or adult life. This study can guide future therapeutic approaches we wish to develop.
/Degree in Medicine, Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Pharmacy or similar. Master completed in the area of Biomedicine. Highly motivated candidates with a good academic record (≥ 8,5) for the completion of the doctorate.
We offer multidisciplinary training in a dynamic and collaborative environment using mutant expression systems in cells and primary neuronal cultures for functional assays of transport, intracellular trafficking, electrical activity, as well as in vivo studies in zebrafish. Candidates must send CV, academic record and motivation letter to Dr. Beatriz López Corcuera

PhD position / Marie-Curie DN Contract (2x)
The role of neonatal enterocytes in gut patterning and development, and their impact on inflammation, and cancer (SurfEx)
Our lab is seeking highly motivated candidates to develop their PhD in the field of Cell Biology and Biomedicine supported by a Marie Curie DN contract (SurfEx-101119504). We are very interested in characterizing the crosstalk between the enterocytes and immune cells during development and pathologies, with particular emphasis In the role that metabolism play during this process. To address these questions, we use in vitro and in vivo techniques, including cutting-edge high-resolution microscopy, engineered organoids, quantitative genomics and proteomics and murine models.
Candidates must not have resided, or carried out main activity, in Spain for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before their recruitment date.
