‘Decoding life’
We offer
A 4-year predoctoral FPI contract associated with the research project PID2025-171813OB-I00 to join the laboratory of Professor Lourdes R. Desviat and Dr. Eva Richard at the Centro de Biología Molecular Severo Ochoa (CBM) in Madrid, Spain.
Our group is focused on the development and characterization of novel models of rare neurometabolic diseases, the study of their molecular and pathophysiological mechanisms, and proof-of-concept studies of different pharmacological and genetic therapeutic approaches, including antisense oligonucleotides and gene editing.
In this project, we aim to characterize the molecular and biochemical phenotype of brain organoids modelling propionic acidemia and to test potential therapeutic approaches, including pharmacological compounds and miRNA-based strategies targeting altered cellular pathways. In addition, we aim to use antisense oligonucleotides and gene-editing approaches to correct splicing defects caused by variants identified in patients with neurometabolic diseases, with gene editing being explored as a permanent corrective strategy.
Requirements
Candidates should hold a degree in Biochemistry, Biology, Medicine, Pharmacy, or a related field, and must have completed a Master’s degree.
Previous experience in cellular, molecular and biochemical techniques, cell culture, and animal experimentation (functions A, B and C) will be valued, as well as a good command of written and spoken English.
How to apply
Candidates should send a CV and a motivation letter to Dr. Eva Richard (erichard@cbm.csic.es) no later than 12 October 2026.
