La interacci\u00f3n de los genomas y prote\u00ednas virales con sensores celulares es esencial para la activaci\u00f3n de una respuesta inmune eficaz y puede determinar el desarrollo de enfermedad. Nuestros estudios incluyen la identificaci\u00f3n de prote\u00ednas sensoras de la infecci\u00f3n y presencia de genomas virales de RNA as\u00ed como la caracterizaci\u00f3n de los mecanismos moleculares de evasi\u00f3n inmune utilizados por los virus para combatir la respuesta antiviral del hospedador basada en la inducci\u00f3n de interfer\u00f3n (IFN) tipo I en las c\u00e9lulas infectadas. El resultado del equilibrio entre la respuesta antiviral y el antagonismo viral puede determinar el desarrollo de enfermedad y la patog\u00e9nesis. Usamos el virus de la fiebre aftosa (FMDV), un pat\u00f3geno altamente infeccioso de distribuci\u00f3n mundial, como modelo y estamos trabajando activamente en la identificaci\u00f3n de prote\u00ednas efectoras de inmunidad innata como posibles dianas de las proteasas virales codificadas por el genoma de FMDV (Lpro y 3Cpro) y su posible interferencia con diferentes rutas de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n relevantes en la respuesta a la infecci\u00f3n por virus RNA. Hemos descrito un nuevo mecanismo de evasi\u00f3n viral basado en la prote\u00f3lisis de LGP2 y MDA5, sensores inmunes de la familia de los RIG-I-like receptors, por la proteasa Leader (Lpro) de FMDV y la degradaci\u00f3n redundante de cGAS por 3Cpro y Lpro. Nuestros estudios previos sobre las NCRs de FMDV nos llevaron a explorar las aplicaciones bioterap\u00e9uticas de RNAs no-codificantes sint\u00e9ticos derivados de las 5\u00b4 y 3\u00b4NCRs de FMDV (ncRNAs) demostrando su capacidad de inducir una actividad antiviral de amplio espectro y de potenciar la respuesta inmune espec\u00edfica mediada por c\u00e9lulas B y T inducida por vacunaci\u00f3n. Hemos descrito el efecto inhibidor de los ncRNAs frente a la infecci\u00f3n por pat\u00f3genos virales de distintas familias incluyendo virus zoon\u00f3ticos relevantes (FMDV, West Nile virus, Rift Valley fever virus, African swine fever virus) y mostrado su actividad biol\u00f3gica en c\u00e9lulas animales de especies ganaderas y salvajes, y tambi\u00e9n in vivo en rat\u00f3n y cerdo. La actividad anti-pan-coronavirus de los ncRNAs ha sido probada recientemente mostrando la actividad profil\u00e1ctica intr\u00ednseca del RNA desnudo frente a SARS-CoV-2 en un modelo de COVID-19 en rat\u00f3n. Estamos trabajando tambi\u00e9n en el desarrollo de nuevas formulaciones basadas en nanotecnolog\u00eda para mejorar la vehiculizaci\u00f3n de los ncRNAs. Los resultados derivados de nuestros estudios contribuir\u00e1n a incrementar el conocimiento sobre la interacci\u00f3n entre pat\u00f3genos virales y el sistema de inmunidad innata de la c\u00e9lula hospedadora y al dise\u00f1o de estrategias nuevas y m\u00e1s eficaces frente a virus circulantes y otros que puedan emerger en el futuro. Aprender c\u00f3mo los virus neutralizan la respuesta inmune del hospedador identificando espec\u00edficamente prote\u00ednas efectoras relevantes como dianas puede contribuir tambi\u00e9n al
