{"id":295195,"date":"2026-06-03T12:12:20","date_gmt":"2026-06-03T10:12:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cbm.uam.es\/?p=295195"},"modified":"2026-06-03T12:23:58","modified_gmt":"2026-06-03T10:23:58","slug":"un-compuesto-natural-obtiene-resultados-prometedores-en-ataxia-de-friedreich","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cbm.uam.es\/index.php\/2026\/06\/03\/un-compuesto-natural-obtiene-resultados-prometedores-en-ataxia-de-friedreich\/","title":{"rendered":"Un compuesto natural obtiene resultados prometedores en Ataxia de Friedreich"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Un compuesto natural de origen vegetal, la 7,8 dihidroxiflavona, obtiene resultados prometedores y revierte parte de las alteraciones en un modelo neuronal de rat\u00f3n de la enfermedad rara Ataxia de Friedreich, seg\u00fan una investigaci\u00f3n liderada por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) en la que tambi\u00e9n colabora el Centro de Biolog\u00eda Molecular Severo Ochoa (CBM-CSIC-UAM), la Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Madrid (UAM) y el Laboratorio de Apoyo a la Investigaci\u00f3n del Hospital Universitario Fundaci\u00f3n Alcorc\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>En concreto, el compuesto revierte la muerte de las neuronas por un proceso conocido por apoptosis y mitiga el da\u00f1o que sufre su ADN. Sin embargo, no revierte la muerte celular a trav\u00e9s de otro proceso conocido como ferroptosis.<\/p>\n<p>La Ataxia de Friedreich es una enfermedad neurodegenerativa rara que afecta especialmente al sistema nervioso y al coraz\u00f3n sin cura en la actualidad. Su prevalencia es de 2-4 por cada 100.000 habitantes y tan solo un tratamiento aprobado consigue mitigar el estr\u00e9s oxidativo que sufren las mitocondrias ante la falta de frataxina (FXN), la prote\u00edna cuyo defecto provoca el desarrollo de la enfermedad.<\/p>\n<p>La novedad de este estudio radica en que se han caracterizado en profundidad y tratado farmacol\u00f3gicamente neuronas granulares del cerebelo del rat\u00f3n YG8-800, un nuevo modelo murino que representa muchas similitudes moleculares y fisiopatol\u00f3gicas con la Ataxia de Friedreich.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLa aplicaci\u00f3n inmediata de estos resultados es que estas c\u00e9lulas de cerebelo son un modelo v\u00e1lido para el estudio\u00a0<em>in vitro<\/em>\u00a0de la Ataxia de Friedreich. Aunque se trata de un estudio b\u00e1sico, realizado en modelos precl\u00ednicos, podr\u00edan tener utilidad cl\u00ednica en el futuro\u201d, explica Sa\u00fal Herranz, investigador del Departamento de Bioqu\u00edmica y Biolog\u00eda Molecular de la Facultad de Medicina de la UCM.<\/p>\n<p>Como l\u00edneas futuras de trabajo, los investigadores se\u00f1alan el abordaje de terapias conjuntas con el tratamiento de 7,8 dihidroxiflavona y otros f\u00e1rmacos conocidos por activar otras v\u00edas de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n celular afectadas en Ataxia de Friedreich, tanto en neuronas in vitro, as\u00ed como en el rat\u00f3n YG8-800 in vivo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEl objetivo ser\u00e1 analizar si la combinaci\u00f3n de los tratamientos tiene un efecto sin\u00e9rgico comparado con su uso individual\u201d, concluye Herranz.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Referencia<\/h3>\n<p>Gal\u00e1n-Cruz, J., Vicente-Acosta, A., Lor\u00eda, F.\u00a0<em>et al.<\/em>\u00a0The TRKB Agonist 7,8-dihydroxyflavone Alleviates DNA Damage and Apoptosis in a Neuronal Cell Model of Friedreich\u2019s Ataxia.\u00a0<em>Mol Neurobiol<\/em>\u00a063, 580 (2026).
