The Centro de Biología Molecular Severo Ochoa (CBM) stands out for its vibrant and active community of students and trainee researchers. Students from various educational levels converge in its facilities, including undergraduate, master’s and PhD students, all of whom are committed to advancing knowledge in the field of molecular biology.
In addition, the CBM regularly receives visiting students from other research centres and universities, as well as students doing external internships from different parts of Spain, Europe and the rest of the world. This diversity not only enriches the academic and scientific environment at the CBM, but also fosters the exchange of ideas and international collaboration.
Students at the CBM have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects under the supervision of experts in various areas of molecular biology, which allows them to acquire high-level practical and theoretical training. Collaboration with experienced researchers and participation in seminars, workshops and conferences are integral to their academic development, providing a solid platform for their future scientific careers.
In short, the CBM is not only a centre of research excellence but also a dynamic meeting point for the next generation of scientists, consolidating its reputation as a place where knowledge and innovation are constantly developing and flourishing.

University Internships, Degree and Master's projects at the CBM
The CBM is a multidisciplinary research centre (CSIC-UAM). An educational collaboration agreement must exist between CSIC and the candidate’s university to carry out university internships here.
For those students interested in doing external internships, Degree or Master’s Final Projects at the CBM, the recommendation is to contact directly the researchers you are interested in, sending them by email a personalized cover letter, CV and academic record and find out the researcher’s availability to host students to carry out the internship.
On the CBM website, there is information and contact information for our principal investigators.
*These recommendations are applicable to students from Spanish universities or those within the European Union. To receive non-EU students (from outside the European Union), a visa is also required that allows them to travel and stay the necessary time in the country.
**UAM students can find information about the applicable regulations here.
