The genome stores the genetic information required for the development, maintenance, and function of all living organisms. This information is used to produce the molecular components that drive essential cellular processes, including cell division, growth, differentiation, communication, and responses to environmental and physiological challenges.

Our program is organized into two Research Units, Genome Decoding and Genome Integrity, which aim to uncover the molecular mechanisms that govern these fundamental biological processes. Using a wide range of model systems and experimental approaches, we investigate genome organization, DNA replication and repair, chromatin dynamics, RNA transcription and translation, protein turnover, and the assembly and regulation of macromolecular complexes.

Through the integration of expertise across these areas, we seek to advance our understanding of genome function and maintenance in health and disease. Our long-term goal is to generate fundamental knowledge that can ultimately contribute to improved diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of human disorders associated with genome dysfunction.
